On Sunday, February 22nd 2026, we will travel to Oxford to play against their assassins and those of Sheffield, UEA, and maybe others.
Our last varsity match was on February 22nd 2025, against Oxford in Cambridge. Assassins Guilds from Leeds, Staffordshire, Royal Holloway and Sheffield also joined. The result was 12-5 to Oxford.
The Cambridge Assassins' Guild is a student-run society which organises termly live-action games in which players track down and eliminate each other with a variety of harmless (and often comically inventive) weapons. These weapons range from the quintessential pen labelled 'knife' to stuffed attack animals, water pistols and foam dart blasters. It is in no way a society of actual assassins. (Apparently we have to clarify this...)
Games are usually run for the duration of the Michaelmas and Lent terms, with a special May Week game following exams. We also hold friendly socials and varsity matches against other guilds across the country.
Sign up to the mailing list to be notified of upcoming Assassins-related events.
To get started, we suggest you read the FAQ for a general overview of the game, then read the pocket rules. Reading the main rules and weaponry rules at some point is also a good idea. If you want to see how a game usually runs, you can check out the reports from past games in the archives.
If you have any questions, please email the umpires at assassins-umpire@srcf.net and we'll be happy to help you out.
Happy Hunting!

The May Week game is now over, and can be found in the archives.
This game's theme was Piracy and Skullduggery. The world has flooded, and the streets of Cambridge have become the High Seas! Assassins now sail the treacherous waters as pirates, and compete for the glory of becoming the most fearsome captain on the sea.
This game's Umpire was Captain Hook aka Axel Agrawal (they/them) of Trinity Hall.
The format of the May Week game is a little different from the main game, and you can read about the differences here. To summarise the major changes:
